Our Story
From an early stage in life, I fell in love with all animals. Growing up, I had dogs, cats, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, birds, fish and even turtles. However, it was dogs that touched my heart. Dogs live in the moment and cherish life’s daily offerings. How could I be around their goodness on a daily basis? Perhaps I could become a veterinarian, I thought? That idea fizzled when I was around 8 years old after watching my aunt get stitches & quickly passing out at the sight of the needle. So I settled for the next best thing – I became a grateful and devoted dog owner.

Over the years, I became more aware of the health benefits of organic foods and soon realized that my dogs deserved to have pure, wholesome products, too. That led me to search for organic food products for my beloved dogs. Since several of my dogs had allergies and were treated with allergy shots and medications, I started to experiment with baking homemade organic dog treats. My dogs loved them and I felt better knowing what ingredients were going into their treats.

It soon became apparent that I needed to follow my passion and share my homemade organic dog treats with others. So, after successful careers in the state government, insurance and pharmaceutical industries, I took the leap. In 2008, I followed my heart and started Pure Doggy Organic Bakery.

My daily inspiration is my dogs. My mission is to mimic their daily devotion to living life to its fullest. Meet my treasured friends:

Max was a mixed breed shelter puppy I adopted from the Capital Area Humane Society in 1992. He loved trying to catch the Goodyear blimp when it came to town for sporting events. He was quite a jumper! Max died much too soon of acute pancreatitis (1992-2001).

Tucker was a misfit Weimaraner puppy I adopted in 1994. He wasn’t  able to “father” little ones, but that didn’t bother me, the least bit. His soul was immense! I was so blessed to have him for almost 15 years (1994-2008).

Tory was a re-home Weimaraner puppy I adopted in 2002 and my first princess. Her first owners couldn’t handle her puppy cries the first week, so they gave her up. She got past the crying stage and has grown into the sweetest and most tender-hearted girl (2002-going strong).

Mason was a 1 year old Weimaraner rescue puppy I adopted from Weimaraner Rescue in 2008.  He was dropped off at a shelter and was going to be put down, until the rescue came to give him hope for a better life.  He is so smart and loves to chase the birds and squirrels in the backyard (2007-going strong).

Parker was a 3 year old Weimaraner rescue I adopted from Weimaraner Rescue in 2009.  He was neglected by his previous owners and was shot with injuries to his ear and mouth. His wounds have since healed and he has become a perfect addition to our family. Parker is a laid back fella who loves to follow his little brother around. Parker was diagnosed with bladder cancer in April 2014, so he is doing his best to be a canine cancer survivor. Follow his journey on his Facebook page Parker's Bucket List (2006-going strong).
